the beginning.

Vazhi's story began long before he can remember on an island nestled between the Sea of Jade and the Sea of Ash called Mazlaya, home to the Hipparion tribe of dodo farmers and fishermen. His father, K'yhen, a proud and charismatic Tia with an unquenchable thirst for adventure, grew tired of their simple life of tending livestock and convinced a handful of his brothers and sisters to break away from the father tribe alongside him, leveraging grand promises of lush new lands and endless possibilities. They left for the mainland on fishing boats, with only days of food and even fewer raw materials at K'yhen's insistance: "Why weigh ourselves down when our destination will have all we need and more?" When they finally made port, they were met with vast golden fields and a bright, burning sun, and it was there, on the southernmost tip of Paglth'an, that the newly-formed tribe found a home.Vazhi, known as Ki'vazhi then, was born a year later, the first child of the Ki tribe. And the only child, because not long after his birth the limited resources Paglth'an's arid grassland provided drove a wedge between the tribe, and saw over half of its members, his mother included, board their beaten fishing boats and return home to Mazlaya. Ki'yhen wouldn't let himself be deterred and stayed behind with Ki'vazhi, though their resourceless struggle gave little time for childcare, and Ki'vazhi grew up feeling like an outsider in the only family he'd ever known. The tiny tribe remained for nearly half a decade, scraping by with what little they had, until their gradual expanse inland caught the attention of a moving Amalj'aa tribe. The battle that followed was entirely one-sided, and the Ki people and their makeshift home were razed to the ground in sacred flame, leaving behind only ash, rubble, and their sole child, who had hidden beneath the bare bones of a half-finished house. He was found there in the aftermath by Zoraak Teh, advisor to the Amalj'aa tribe's chief and a gentle soul. Ignoring the complaints of her brothers, Zoraak brought Ki'vazhi home alive and convinced the rest of the tribe to help raise him as one of their own. It was with them that he gained his stripes, his skill in battle, and found a friend and sparring partner in a red-scaled cavalry drake who took a liking to him. He gave up his tribe's prefix and became Vazhi Gah, honorary Amalj'aa and a warrior of Paglth'an.Though the Amalj'aa offered a warmer home than the Ki tribe ever did, Vazhi never quite felt like he belonged but fought hard to make sure he did, pushing himself to the limits of his strength to prove that he was deserving of their respect.

go AWAYLorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

  • yippee funny little notes

  • for little lore tidbits that don't fit into the other pages

  • i'm never gonna finish this :)

Sihna Kahlsuri

Love at first sight feels like an understatement. Vazhi fell for Sihna before he could even put a word to the feeling, and has since become near-inseparable from her. Their relationship began transactionally—just brief flings with no strings attached. It wasn't until a tragic loss at Isghard's Vault that they became something more. Vazhi loves Sihna violently, more than he cares for himself, and it makes her his greatest strength and most fatal weakness.

A'vett is Vazhi's first and best friend. Some of his fondest memories are of the Taaskha farm, his first real job as a budding adventurer. It was A'vett and his parents who mellowed Vazhi out from the wild, battle-hungry thing he used to be, and he hasn't left A'vett's side since. He tries his best to train the guy up to fend for himself, but his instinctive need to do the toughest jobs alone and keep A'vett out of trouble make that harder than it needs to be.

A'vett Taaskha

Kyuu Kimora

Older than him or not, Kyuu is the little sister Vazhi never had. He has a little too much fun teasing and poking fun at her, but beneath all the childish pranks is a genuine worry that if he doesn't urge her out of her shell, someone else will beat him to it and won't be nearly as (moslty) gentle about it. She took a hit for him once and he's never forgiven himself for it, so he's always the first to throw himself between Kyuu and any danger she may face.

As different as they are, Vazhi considers Iljax one of his closest friends. Their shared self-destructive habits give Vazhi a twisted sense of belonging, even if both would sooner die than properly confide in one another. Iljax understands the healing properties of a good, messy spar and Vazhi's always ready to spearhead the insane combat tactics Iljax whips up, and as far as Vazhi's concerned, that's as good a friendship as anyone can hope for.

Iljax Ceateux

The Twins

As far as Alphinaud is concerned, Vazhi might as well be a second Alisae. Where he prefers careful planning, Alisae and Vazhi tend to forgo it entirely and rush headlong into the heat of battle. Still, as much as Vazhi wishes Alphinaud would loosen up, he has the utmost respect for both him and Alisae. What other kids out there can say they've braved the horrors of the world and lived to tell the tale?

Though they had a rocky start, Thancred's relentless flirting and snide remarks leaving a poor first impression, Vazhi trusts Thancred enough now to know that the man will always have his back. They share the same pessimism, preferring to veer on the side of caution and expect the worst so they won't be disappointed later, and as depressing as it may seem to anyone else, the two find comfort in it and each other.

Thancred

Urianger

All things considered, the two of them get along surprisingly well. Urianger was one of the first Scions Vazhi could have a fully coherent conversation with. The Elezen picked up on his native Amalj'aan speaking habits quickly and adjusted his own vocabulary to suit him. Even now, though Vazhi is perfectly fluent in Eorzean, the two can still be overheard exchanging long-winded idioms and flowery phrases that only they seem to understand.

Vazhi and Estinien have never spoken—not in words, at least. They seem to have a mutual understanding without them, abandoning conversation in favor of meaningful glances and the occasional grunt. As far as the rest of the Scions can tell, they get along well. At the very least, they fall together easily on the battlefield, though Estinien still gives Vazhi odd looks when he treats his lance as a bo staff rather than a spear.

Estinien

G'raha

Instinct made Vazhi one of the first among the Scions to recognize the Exarch. During the year he spent in the First waiting for the other Wayfinders' summoning, he was sent away on missions frequently, all to keep him busy so he wouldn't let the Exarch's true identity slip. Despite this, or perhaps because of, Vazhi welcomed G'raha warmly when he finally dropped the mask, and took to doting on (and teasing) him like a younger brother.

Vazhi is Tataru's go-to taskman. He's quick to agree to whatever schemes she has in mind, and has done everything from escorting whatever new products she cooks up to fill the Scions' coffers, to acting as the bruiser for business deals-gone-wrong. In exchange for doing her dirty work, Tataru keeps Vazhi's weapons and gear in tip-top shape, with only minimal complaining about how poorly he takes care of them.

Tataru

Y'shtola

Y'shtola is always the first to scold Vazhi's recklessness, and he just grins and waves away her worries. Though he considers her the closest thing to a mother figure he has outside of Paglth'an, their vastly different skills and interests make it hard for the two to get close, not that Vazhi doesn't try. Their conversations usually involve him trying (and failing) to understand Y'shtola's studies, and her laughing at him when he fumbles over the more difficult terms.
